Conducting an interview to a self-identified Afro American require prior preparations to ensure that the objectives of the whole activity are realized. This article is made to report an interview recorded from an African American who comes from a humble and understated background.

The interview was conducted over the phone because Ben lives in Washington which is far away from my area of residence. It was a privilege to engage in a conversation him because he showed great maturity throughout the whole process.

Ben Carson is a politician, surgeon and an author who has developed outstanding leadership skills. In his early life as a student he says that he preferred joining Yale university over Harvard after watching a match between the two where Yale emerged as victors. Being a high performing student, he got full scholarship to the university were participated in variety of community works and small employments which made him secure some dollars for his pocket. He utilized his opportunities in Yale and graduated BA psychology and later as a medical student. This lead him to be profiled as the first African American to perform neuro surgeon in the world. He retired as a surgeon in 2013 saying he would be better retiring when he was at the top of the carrier. He has been following the American politics for long period. He changed his Republican registration after the republicans impeached president Clinton. He had ambitions of becoming the American president but withdrew from the campaign after seeing that there was not political path that could lead him achieve his dream. He said that his dream to become an American president was inspired from his early lifestyle where he struggled a lot as a young boy to reach his current status. He declined a position in the cabinet in president Trumps administration stating he had no experience. Later accept to be the secretary of housing and urban development.

Ben Carson is hardworking he says that he has worked his way out to reach his current position growing from a single parent background. He is a leader and has held administrative positions in the American government. He motivates people to work and fight against poverty. He is an author and has published several books. He is a Christian endorsed in the Seventh-day Adventist. He believes in the power that god put in human brains. He says that poverty is a mind state which one acquires from parents at a young age. He has embraced a family life currently married and has three children. He was born in 1951 by a world war II veteran Robert and wife Sonya in Detroit, Michigan. Currently he lives in Washington with his family.
