Broadly, community development is a collective approach from a group of people to undertake projects that will bring about positive change. This activity is informed by a set of values that underpin the approach to the work. These values are: social justice, self-determination, working and learning together, sustainable communities, participation and reflective practice. Community capacity development describes the process of developing the skills, knowledge, confidence and structures to ensure that projects will succeed.
