The Walking Dead and Psychological Phenomenon

Rick Grimes is a former Sheriff’s deputy who has been in a coma for several months after being shot while on duty. When he awakens he discovers that the world has been ravished by a zombie epidemic of apocalyptic proportions, and that he seems to be the only person still alive. Nobody is certain what caused the illness which ravaged the population infecting most of the people.  The infected ones die then transform into zombie-like creatures that come back to life in search of the living to bite, ravish and devour. The only way to permanently kill them is to put a hole in their heads. After returning home to discover his wife and son missing, he runs into survivors Morgan and his son; who teach him the ropes of the new world. He then heads for Atlanta to search for his family. Narrowly escaping death at the hands of the zombies on arrival in Atlanta he is aided by another survivor, Glenn, who takes Rick to a camp outside the town. There Rick finds his wife Lori and his son, Carl, along with his partner/best friend Shane.  They are with a small group of survivors who struggle to fend off the zombie hordes; as well as competing with other surviving groups who are prepared to do whatever it takes to survive in this harsh new world.

Always in search of a safe and secure home, they meet the everyday challenges of a life occupied with zombies which takes a toll on the survivors.  The interpersonal conflicts sometimes present a greater danger to their continued survival than the never ending walking dead.  As time passes, the characters are changed by the constant exposure to death.  While some grow willing to do anything to survive, others are resigned to give in to a seemingly hopeless situation.      http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1520211/

The small group of survivors has just been attacked by a horde of zombies. Rick and a few others went into town only to return to their campsite in time to fight off the zombies.  They lose a few people including one woman’s sister.  Another survivor has been bitten, but not ravished.
