Part 1:
Discuss the process of wind transport and erosion of sand and fine sediments in the desert.
What processes act on shorelines (i.e. coast of Maryland or your region)? How do hurricanes affect coastal areas (focus on the geologic impacts)? How does wave refraction concentrate erosion on a headland — and how is wave refraction related to longshore sediment transport. Groins — how to they interact with longshore transport?
What are the basic types of glaciers? How are they formed? The Quaternary is comprised of the Pleistocene & Holocene (both totally about 1.8 my ). During this time,there were 4 episodes of continental glaciation during the Pleistocene and 3 inter glacial times – the Holocene seem to be the 4th interglacial. What < or if you want HOW does> does the geologic record tell us about the past ICE AGES in North America.

Describe the coastal processes that act on shorelines.
Define and discuss barrier islands (as found on the eastern coast of the United States).
