Discuss the ways the authors use the elements of fiction
Main post (minimum 250 words): The key elements of fiction are character, plot (conflict and resolution), setting, scene and summary, and text and style (point-of-view, syntax, diction). Read both Edgar Allan Poe’s short story “The Black Cat” (http://www.gutenberg.org/files/2148/2148-h/2148-h.htm#link2H_4_0006) and James Joyce’s short story “Araby” (http://www.gutenberg.org/files/2814/2814-h/2814-h.htm#link2H_4_0003). Discuss the ways the authors use the elements of fiction, comparing and contrasting as necessary. What stands out? How does each author maximize each element to make the story as meaningful or powerful as it is? Include for discussion each of the elements of fiction.
