Please read the reading materials (which I uploaded separately) before you start writing the discussion. I only need couple of paragraphs (300 words) for my original
discussion and two reply posts (200 words) each for my two classmate’s discussion posts. I will upload my classmates post together but I need my discussion done by
Friday and two posts for my classmates by Saturday. See below for instructions.
Week 6 – Discussion Question #1:
The Sustainable Communities Initiative can be found in this 21 page document which is available for your review. I am interested in class members interaction with the
sections on “The Benefits of Community Engagement” through the end of “Guidelines for Meaningful Community Engagement” (pp. 4-9). Utilizing your professional
experience and the resources in the course thus far, provide a 350-500 word critique of these sections, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the rationale. You
may want to become familiar with the entire document.

Discussion Question #2: The NDRF identifies nine Core Principles. Select two of these principles and illustrate how they are fleshed out in the document’s section
Achieving Disaster Recovery in a current emergency event (from 2015 forward). Use current news sources and other course documents to illustrate your argument. Please
limit yourself to no more than 350-500 words.

One of the chronic challenges in the Recovery portion of the DMC is the role of non-profits distributing funds raised by the non-profit(s) for “Disaster Relief of
XXXXX.” The essay by Patrin (2013) highlights how this challenge created problems for the American Red Cross in the aftermath of the attacks of 9/11/01. Do you agree
with the statement that these non-profits (and the ARC specifically) tend to rely on disasters to raise money for all of their projects
(http://www.redcross.org/about-us/our-work/disaster-relief)?

This is not an essay so NO COVER PAGE. When you’re writing my original discussion, it needs to be divided into three parts; CONTEXT, ANALYSIS, and SUMMARY. Also
address one of the above questions in a clear and coherent manner.
In additional posting you may respond and comment critically on the findings of other students. Did they overlook anything? Did they find out something you did not
expect? Provide a detailed explanation for your remarks.
These additional postings (response to your classmate’s posts) should be at least 200 words long also and may include an additional reference that enhances the
discussion.
