The construction industry is a big and diverse aspect that turns engineering plans and specifications in reality.
This physical reality also has to be matched by an economic reality. For a public agency such as the Indiana Department of Transportation, it is important that state (public) funds are spent in a manor that is in the public’s best interest.
Accordingly, projects are bid competitively and publicly. Your task is to identify at least five INDOT construction projects, and to estimate unit costs for at least 50 pay items based on the bids.
Explain what you observe, how an engineer can use this information, and detail your findings in a brief paper no longer than 10 pages. You may work in a group of up to 3.
