Part 1
You are asked to watch three different videos pertaining to the dropping of two atomic bombs on Japan by the US to force their surrender and to read the journal article “Were the atomic bombs justified?”. Use your journal article to reflect on your feelings about the bombs. Try to put yourself in the SHOES of Harry Truman, an American marine who would be ordered to invade the Japanese islands, and a Japanese civilian who lived in one of these two towns.
Part 2
you will need to make the argument of whether or not you feel that the bombings were justified at the time and how we judge this decision today and how future generations will judge this action.
