E-business Assignment 2 Usability Report
Do one of the following assignments: You work for a usability consultancy. A client has asked you to undertake a review of their website
to see if you can improve their usability. In this case, a usability review is made by stating what is
wrong, why it is wrong and proposing an improvement.
OR Compare and contrast the usability of any two websites that operate in the same sector. Examine the site or sites and present your findings as a document.
The sites must be e-commerce sites (enabling online purchase). You may work in groups.
Present your work as a series of bullet points.
This assignment can be done individually or groups of up to 3 people. Please upload via turnitin/moodle.
E-business Final Evaluation
Evaluate e-commerce software.
Choose any E-commerce software, and state why you would implement it. This is a very
broad question, and initially you have to decide whether you are a part-timer, selling
something online from out of your garage, a small start-up operation just beginning in the
world of e-commerce, or are large company with a very substantial online operation
already, or anything anywhere in between. Once you are clear on what sort of operation you
have, then you should research an appropriate software. State what capabilities it has, why
you feel it fits your needs, why you like it etc. If there is a price available (it tends not to be
visible on the more expensive packages), state it. You may choose a fully hosted package,
(such as yahoo small business e-commerce type) or a hundreds of thousand dollars package
(such as IBM websphere e-commerce). Think about functionality, site management tools,
reporting, scaleability, legal requirements, payment capabilities, taxation and compatibility
with any systems your company might have.
You must present your finds in a brief (5-10 minute) presentation on the last day of class.
The deliverables for this assignment will be the .ppt presentation itself or a document
outlining your research that you should send to me before the final day of class, and the
presentation itself.
You will be graded on:
the quality of the presentation,
the degree of realism,
the evidence of research,
consideration of how the proposed software matches the requirements of the
company.
