Many cultures have “stories” or “myths” about ancient natural disasters that have occurred, perhaps as a repercussion due the society doing something “wrong”. Many
times, these stories are not seen as being representative of an actual disaster that took place. Explain how the scientists in the article(s) you read were able to
prove that the disaster that occurred in the story was true, including methods or techniques they used to come to their conclusions. Do you think there are other
disaster-related stories from the distant past that may also be proved from a scientific standpoint? If so, specifically describe why.
