Learning Activity #4: Volcanoes Exercise
? Read Chapter 5, sections 5 and 6 in The Heavens and the Earth textbook.
? For onsite students, come to class prepared to discuss questions 6, 7, and 12 from the Review Section in Chapter 5. Topics will include:
? Discuss types of volcanoes
? Volcanic materials
? Dangers caused by volcanoes
? Location of volcanoes
? Research an event involving a volcano OR investigate the causes, measuring scales, and impacts of volcanoes
? Submission Item: Write a 1-2 page (250 to 500 words double spaced) written report on volcanoes. Your report should summarize the measuring scales, causes, impacts, and most common locations of volcanoes and will include either an identification chart or relate the information to a current event of an active or recent volcano.
