Equity Analysis Research-Business & Finance – Financial markets
Teams have all been assigned a sub sector within the financial services industry for their deep dive company research analysis projects. Additionally, Teams have selected a company that has been approved by the Professor. The goal is to follow CFA standards and guidelines to come up with a comprehensive evaluation and buy/hold or sell recommendation on your company. Teams will write a formal paper and prepare and deliver a PowerPoint presentation to the class. Grading will be 70% on the paper and 30% on the presentation. Since we are covering different sub-sectors within the Finance industry – teams should note any specific metrics that are important in the evaluation process for their sub-sectors. It is also important that each team prepare a valuation (utilizing at least two methodologies – e.g. comparison and DDM) and three major competitors plus and industry standard as part of its financial analysis. More details follow below. And two resource folders are up on Moodle with several sample projects for your review. Teams will have 20 minutes to complete their presentations. All team members must participate and there will be a confidential evaluation form at the end of the project to help with final grades. Students should use all available University resources including the Bloomberg Lab and Clark Library to complete the final project. Note an executive summary of the projects is also required and should not be longer than 2 pages long.
