African/Black History is often left out of the curriculum in most high schools in the United States. Unfortunately, this has resulted in several generations of African/Black students leaving school with very little knowledge of self. This is something that can an easily be addressed by introducing Black history courses beginning in the 9th grade.

As a individual you are tasked with creating a comprehensive curriculum for high school students using the material in class and material found from other scholarly sources. The curriculum must include the following:

1. An overall theme: 1.a. For example you may want to focus on one of the following themes:

i. Civil Rights and Martin Luther King Jr

ii. The Black Power Movement and Kwame Ture

iii. Malcolm X and

iv. African/Black people and the Media

v. Culture, Music and Liberation Movement

vi. Slavery and Freedom: Stories of the Free Black Men and Women

2. A reference page

3. Readings for each lesson

4. Learning Objectives for each lesson
