Essay paper: ï‚· With reference to Edgell (2016, Figure 1.2),discuss your understanding of ecotourism, geotourism, responsibilities
In this essay, you are required to write in the 3rd person (i.e. not I, me, you, we, our, etc.). You are also required to use the appropriate format for university essays (see guides for essay writing). Your essay must include:
ï‚·  An introduction, which introduces the topic, states the argument of the essay and states what points the essay will cover. (i.e. outlines the main points).
ï‚·  A body, which (1) reviews the key literature and concepts related to the essay topic, and (2) critically discusses the main points of the essay (and builds the sustained argument), with industry examples to support your arguments.
ï‚·  A conclusion, which restates the main argument.
You should use examples, with reference articles, to develop and support your argument. Since this is an academic paper, your research must extend beyond the boundaries of your textbook. Thus, a general description of Edgell’s model or plain descriptive writing will not be enough. Your ‘knowledge base’ – the way you have explored and highlighted your understanding of the academic, peer-reviewed tourism literature – will be key assessment criteria for this essay. You must be able to demonstrate evidence of your tertiary learning experience and ability to undertake quality academic research in Sustainable Tourism. For this assignment, you must use academic, peer reviewed journal articles and books for references. Web sites should only be used to highlight the industry application/understanding of sustainable tourism.
In order to pass this essay assignment you must have at least three (3) current (2013 or later), academic references or peer-reviewed journal articles, related to the concept of sustainable tourism and the essay topic, cited in your assignment submission.
It is also highly encouraged that you check your essay against the assessment criteria outlined in the essay feedback sheet (Appendix 2).
