This is a 750-1,000-word essay (approx. 3-4 pages), typed and double-spaced, that follows the MLA format for short essays. Please also include an original (and interesting!) title.
Always use at least 3 examples when arguing a point. For this paper, you may use only 1 anecdote from your personal experience, or from what you’ve observed.Â
Use at least 1 outside source.
Use at least 2 in-text citations (quote or paraphrase). For this paper, you will probably use the essay in the book that you are basing the paper on though some of you may want to use an outside source. You may certainly use more than one source.
Write a Works Cited page. This follows the essay, and does not count as words or pages in your required words/page count).
Submit paper through turnitin.  You will find this link right in Canvas, under the day the paper is due.
Please always hold on to your notes and drafts for papers. I may ask to look at them.

You should be attentive to each of these requirements. if you do not do or complete any one of these, points will be deducted, and you won’t get as a high grade as you would have otherwise. For instance, if you write a successful argument but don’t include a Works Cited, points will be deducted.
You may feel that these tasks are unimportant or too much effort, or you may be unsure about how to succeed at these tasks, but this is the time to learn them, make mistakes, be corrected, and try again. In writing classes beyond English 1A, and in other disciplines such as history, sociology, etc., you will not be getting support when it is time to write papers. Now is the time to be practicing and asking questions.Â
