essay on Pluralism |Social Science

To complete your first essay, take some time to review Harvard’s Pluralism Project at http://pluralism.org (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.. Read their mission statement, information on founder Diana Eck, project summaries, and/or any other things (twitter, facebook, youtube videos, news outlets, scholarly articles about it, etc.) necessary for you to understand the aim and method of their investigation. Briefly summarize your findings in the first paragraph of your paper. Do not make this the bulk or your essay. It should be no more than 250-300 words or so. In the rest of your paper, argue whether or not you think the Pluralism Project is a useful strategy for the academic study of World Religions. Make your argument clear and use the readings/discussions we have presented in class in order to corroborate your position. You should use 2-3 specific examples from our course material but allow the overall breadth of our work to inform your position. If you choose to use one of the early theorists in your argument, you must use two of the other sources as well. (One early theorist and one contemporary scholar will not suffice.) Ultimately, you will not be graded on which stance you argue but rather how effectively you can demonstrate that you understand and can apply the things we have done in class.

You may use whichever writing style you prefer (MLA, Chicago, etc.) as long as you remain consistent throughout and cite your sources properly. See course syllabus for other formatting concerns. The paper should be between 1,000 and 1,500 words in length.
