Essay about sociology + early childhood education

APA FORMAT, 1250-1800 words (5-7 pages)

Reference page and internal citations

You need 5 sources all together

Research paper should contain the following 4 sections:

-Introduction and thesis statement (1 paragraph)

-Facts and research (approximately 1-2 pages)

-Applying the theories (approximately 3-5 pages)

-Conclusion (1 paragraph)
Examine a current Canadian social issue using 4 sociological theories. The focus with this choice will be to apply the theoretical perspectives to the issue, specifically in terms of impacts on children and families. For example, you could research the prevalence of eating disorders in children, the effects of having a sibling with a developmental difference, how social media use influences play, etc.

Introduction and thesis statement (1 paragraph)
Your introductory paragraph lays out what you researched and what is to be read in the paper. Include an outline of your topic, the theories you will apply, and your thesis statement.

Facts and research (approximately 1-2 pages)
This section reveals the facts you found about your chosen social issue. Include any information that could be important for your analysis. This could include a detailed description of the issue, statistical information, related studies or experiments, etc. Be sure to
introduce/highlight your specific focus within these facts.

Applying the theories (approximately 3-5 pages)
Give concise but detailed summaries of your chosen theories, and use them to examine your topic. This is the major section of the paper, and it relies on your ability to think critically. You
will likely need 2-3 paragraphs per theory to explain the perspective and then apply it to your research and thesis. Consider such questions as: How does the theory explain the issue? What
aspect of the situation would the theory focus on? Which theory gives the most understanding on the topic? What does the theory not address? How can the theories be used together? You do not need to answer these specific questions; this is just meant to give you some ideas of different ways to apply the theories.

Conclusion (1 paragraph)
This is where you “tie everything together”. You may include a conclusion you came to over the course of the research, or perhaps this research just pointed in the direction of future needed investigations. You might answer your thesis question, or reveal a misguided initial hypothesis. Basically, you want to briefly summarize what you did in the paper, and make clear where the research now stands.
