Your Midterm Examination will include an essay portion with 6 questions, all of which you must answer to the best of your ability. The Midterm Examination covers the text, Pollock, Chapters 1 – 7. Also, it encompasses the material in Modules 1 – 4, including the Discussion Board material. This examination will be available for you to take beginning at 12:00 AM EST on the Monday morning of Module 4 and will close promptly the following Sunday evening at 11:55 PM EST. It is suggested you write or print out the essay questions for handy reference as you develop your responses. 1.Based on the assigned readings, course discussions, and scenarios, what seems to be one similarity among all religious systems? Be specific and defend your response. 2.Based on the assigned readings, course discussions, and scenarios, what are the three basic approaches to explaining human behavior? Explain each in brief detail. 3.Briefly compare and contrast distributive and corrective justice. 4.Explain the ethical dilemmas that police officers face from their powers of discretion within the context of discrimination, investigative practices, and the use of force. Provide at least one example for each. 5.Identify and describe the types of police corruption and misconduct and suggest some specific ways to reduce these unethical behaviors. 6.Based on the assigned readings, course discussions, and scenarios, explain the public servant role and the crime fighter role and why the two may be inconsistent. Be specific and defend your answer. Be sure to submit your essay exam in one WORD document and place it in the appropriate assignment drop box.
