1.   Learn how to recognize ethos (character), pathos (emotion), and logos (logic) in a variety of texts.

2.   Learn how they are used well, and when they are used poorly.

3.   Learn how to use ethos, pathos, logos, in an argumentative essay.Â

ActivityÂ

·         Each person provides 2 examples each of ethos, pathos, and logos. This means individuals will need to submit a total of 6 examples.

·         Examples can be memes, gifs, short commercials, comics, comic strips, social media posts, or promotional materials. The examples should deal with popular culture, or your genre that you wrote about for your definition essay. 

Use PowerPoint or Google Slides to edit the images with labels.Â

1.   Label the example as an example of ethos, logos, pathos. (Some examples may contain more than one element).

2.   Label the elements of the example that do a good job of appealing to the target audience.

3.   Label the elements that do a poor job of appealing to the target audience.

4.   Label the overall element as a good example or bad example of ethos, pathos, logos.

5.   Submit the images to the discussion page for this assignment.Â
