an expert at business ethics,

you are pretty much an expert at business ethics, especially from the stakeholder analysis perspective. This final exam asks you to examine the phenomenon of planned obsolescence as explained in the documentary “Pyramids of Waste” (or, as some call it, “The Lightbulb Conspiracy”). In order to do so, please fully answer the following three questions.

1) Stakeholders and their interests. What stakeholders are positively affected by planned obsolescence? What stakeholders are negatively affected? Briefly explain how this doctrine impacts your identified stakeholders. (20 points)

2) What are the two types of planned obsolescence? (You might think of these as “voluntary” and “involuntary.”) Are either, both, or neither of these ethical? Why or why not? (15 points)

3) If you were asked for your professional opinion on whether to use planned obsolescence as part of your organization’s strategy for success, how would you decide whether that was a good business decision? (I am looking for your decision making process here more than than your ultimate conclusion.) (15 points)

Remember to use your notes and anything from this class that you believe would help you answer these three questions. Please incorporate course content.
