Explain the founders of christianity and buddhism

Buddhism paragraph

ANSWER THE QUESTIONS BELOW IN DQ AND INCLUDE THE REFRENCE.

Class, in Buddhism, we met the founder, the Awakened One who became known as the Buddha:

For him, he had found the truth and it was important enough to him that he made a conscious decision to postpone Nirvana in order to teach humanity this truth. Thereby, becoming the first Bodhisattva.

His first sermon at Deer Park in India laid out his 4 Noble Truths and 8 Fold Path. His 8 Fold Path, or the teachings of it have long been the subject of comparison with Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. Here are some examples :

Jesus said, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto to you.” Luke 6:31

Buddha said, ” consider others as yourself.” Dhammapada 10:1

Jesus said, ” Love you enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. From anyone who takes your coat, give them your shirt as well.” Luke 6:27

Buddha said, “Hatreds do not ever cease in this world by hating, but by love: this is an eternal truth. Overcome anger with love, overcome evil with good..overcome the miser by giving; overcome the liar with the truth.” Dhammapada 1.5 & 17.3

DQ: Both of the above quotes show similar teachings between the founders of Christianity and Buddhism. Here is your question. We learned that all religions are human constructs. Does the fact that these two men, though the Buddha lived approximately 500 years before Jesus, taught much the same message, one of love, tolerance, acceptance, etc. add further credence to what we have discussed previously, in that ALL human beings have the same needs, desires, wants, therefore, all religions will in some way teach the same things. OR is this an accident, they just happened to sound alike? In other words, does this comparison show that all religions have more IN common with each other than NOT in common?
