Explain one function of a specific receptor activated by a particular neurotransmitter. We discussed neurotransmitter receptors in detail in chapters 7 and 9, as well as applied to muscle in chapter 12. Let’s now review what we have learned; in other words, adopt a neurotransmitter and receptor!

Purpose: Explain one function of a specific receptor activated by a particular neurotransmitter. We discussed neurotransmitter receptors in detail in chapters 7 and 9, as well as applied to muscle in chapter 12. Let’s now review what we have learned; in other words, adopt a neurotransmitter and receptor!

Instructions: Pick one neurotransmitter and a receptor combination, not already covered by a peer in the group, and explain how the receptor is activated and the ultimate outcome on the organ in your initial post. Be sure to cover the following points:

(1) name of neurotransmitter that binds to and activates the receptor (include the name of the receptor);

(2) how the receptor responds to the neurotransmitter – for instance (a) how specific ions move or (b) the specific steps involved in producing a particular second messenger;

(3) explain the resulting effect within the effector cell(s) or organ.

(4) describe one drug that could effect the mechanism associated with this receptor action. For instance, if you chose the norepinephrine as the neurotransmitter and a beta-1 adrenergic receptor, then you could cover a beta-1 agonist or a beta-1 antagonist (blocker). Another example is if you chose acetylcholine as the neurotransmitter and a muscarinic receptor, then you could cover a muscarinic agonist or muscarinic antagonist (blocker).

In your peer response, investigate and expand on the topic. For instance, you might discuss side effects of the drug discussed in the initial post or the use of a different drug at this location.

Be sure to paraphrase or write the information in your own words and cite your source(s).

Note: do not use the same example covered by another peer.

I need the paper 2 parts the first one will discuss the requirements above and I need to receive it before the other one

the second part is peer response I will wait until my peers submit their response and send it to you.
