Explain strengths and barriers of available services for Latinos|documentary assignment

This assignment is part of your overall Community Treasure Hunt effort, therefore: Be sure that you have downloaded and read through the full Community Treasure Hunt Final Paper description found in the ‘Assignments’ folder in the ‘Getting Started’ area of the course.

You will develop a 10-15 minute documentary of the community you studied (Saratoga Springs, New York) in your Community Treasure Hunt that focuses on Latinos. Create this as if you were bringing awareness of this community to others, presenting an arrangement that is both creative and informative. You are allowed to use website information, self-video presenting information, and interviews with community members and agency staff and leaders to address the required components.

THIS ASSIGNMENT MUST ADDRESS THE LATINO POPULATION. STUDENTS WHO DO NOT SPECIFICALLY ADDRESS THE LATINO COMMUNITY WILL RECEIVE A FAILING GRADE ON THIS ASSIGNMENT.

Your Tasks:

Your documentary should include the following:

A Welcome and Introductory Statement
Community Overview:
Location and Demographics
Community Strengths (resources)
Community Challenges (needs)
The experiences of Latino clients in the community (this documentary looks at the community from the lens of Latinos who may seek services as community members)
Client Services:
Identify programs and services, including eligibility requirements
Discuss strengths and barriers of available services for Latinos
Identify gaps in services
Roles of Social Workers in the Community (this discussion should incorporate some content specifically on the roles of social workers in serving Latinos; if there are no specific services social workers are providing now, what would you recommend and why?)
Self-Reflection A discussion of your personal experience and what you learned in the Community Treasure hunt.
Pictures/Images/Media: Be sure to show us your community in this documentary – You must include photographs or video from your treasure hunt showing us your community throughout your presentation, failure to do so will result in a 20% deduction.

The documentary can be:

A narrated documentary created with software you own on your computer then uploaded as media from your computer to VoiceThread
PowerPoint slides uploaded to VoiceThread with embedded photographs, video clips, graphs, charts, maps, and other visuals as appropriate. If you use this method, you must add narration to your documentary using VoiceThread’s ‘Comment’ tools.
Upload pieces of media (videos, photographs, graphs, charts, maps, etc.) each as a slide in your VoiceThread. Again, if you use this method, you must add narration to your documentary using VoiceThread’s ‘Comment’ tools

Tip: Please remember to add an appropriate title to your thread. Use descriptive titles lines for your posts; some find it easier to determine the subject line after authoring the thread.
