Family Interview

Interview Assignment:  Interview someone, preferably in your own family, that is one or more generations older than yourself.  Write a double-spaced paper, not less than three pages in length, using the answers to the following questions.

  1.    1) Begin your paper by describing your interviewee’s early life, when and where did she/he grow

    up?  What were the family dynamics?

    2) What were the beliefs in how children developed and learned?

    3) Was School important, was education a priority?

    4) What child rearing practices and values did s/he experience as a child?

    5) As an adolescent was s/he expected to get a job, get married, go to school, stay home and

    help?

    6) Compare your upbringing to the person you interviewed.  How was your life similar and/or

    different?

    7) Reflect on the interview and write an evaluation about what you have learned.  How has the

    information impacted your life?  What would you change in your life, if anything, after reviewing your interview?
