Here is our thesis statement… If the continues influx and popularity of major events and festivals taking place in Kelowna is bringing people into the valley and increasing economic potential that allows Kelowna to grow does there need to be more events like these to stimulate the job market and economy as they could lead to the reversal of our youth exodus by encouraging youth to come to the region….

So from the thesis statement I need to write an argumentative essay proves that festival and events have a good impact on tourism and growth.

I’ll attach the proposal so you can have a look at it and have a better idea.

Economic and social impact of events on Tourism

Topic chose and Reason:
Our chosen research topic on the impact of tourism is Events and Festivals. We chose this as our topic for many reasons. Each of us has our own personal reason as to why we chose it but as a team we have come to a common reason as to why we felt that this was an important and justifiable topic to research. We have learnt that a growing influx and popularity of major events and festivals is taking place in Kelowna and the Okanagan valley. We believe that it has outstanding economic impact on the Okanagan region, that these events have increased the number of tourists to the region tenfold which in turn has worked to propagate the local economy as well as give rise to new forms of entertainment for the local population. We have found that they help to covey some useful and important cultural and social messages while people celebrate the festivals related to their religion, culture and community. As events grow to be more and more in trend new businesses and venues’ solely catering to events and festivals continue to open in the regions. We chose to research the impact of events because it affects our everyday life as millennials. Millennials tend to seek more and more entertainment. As young students considering what we want to do when we “grow up” it because more and more interesting to research and discover the effect and affect of events.
