Film Analysis

PURPOSE

The purpose of this assignment is to recognize the importance of various influences on business and to analyze the process that occurs as a business is established, grows, and changes. This analysis is about the state of affairs existing between people who had dealings with each other in the business context. Movies present excellent case studies for analysis of specific business relationships.

PROCEDURE

1. After watching your selected film, identify the theories of business that were evident to you in the movie.

2. Your 2 page paper will identify the phenomena you saw occurring, with each body paragraph focusing on the chapters that we have read thus far:

3. At least 6 Concepts (2 per body paragraph) from the book must be used in writing your paper.

OUTCOME

The final outcome of this activity is a 3 page typewritten paper, which is a critical analysis of the movie written in essay form. DO NOT SUMMARIZE THE FILM!! The paper must be well organized and written, following this organizational scheme:

1. Brieflysummarize the plot. Include a thesis statement (underlined) about the three business concepts you will develop in the body of your essay.

2. Analyzethe characters’ specific application of business principles (take several major principles or ideas and support these with specific examples from the movie). I am searching for a comprehensive understanding of course materials. I want to know that you can draw links between concepts and business factors.
3. Describe how the concept is applied in the story; be specific as you describe the characters or events where this concept is demonstrated. Use appropriate terms from the text.
4. Evaluate whether the concept is applied effectively or ineffectively (a good or bad example). Take a position and explain why you believe as you do.
5. Analyze the consequences of the concept’s effective or ineffective application. Consider short-term and long-term consequences to the character or plot.

Conclude: Summarize your insights. What are the major lessons learned?
