This page describes the requirements for your learning project.
Your learning project has several components. ALL must be completed and compiled into a single file that is formatted in MLA:
1. Field Trip. ( MUST BE OF A PLACE IN VERMONT USA)Please provide a description of a field trip to an event, a house of worship or prayer, an art exhibit, or other such opportunity that is directly connected with spirituality and that is outside your own primary spiritual tradition. Some past examples: a sweat lodge ceremony; a powwow; a Wiccan gathering; a yoga retreat; a reiki training; a rite or ritual at a church other than your own; the completion and scattering of a sand mandala, etc. Your field trip description should be very specific, and should connect your trip to what you are learning about spirituality. You should make specific references to at least two essential objectives (these are listed in the course description). This part of the project should be approximately 500 words.
2. An interview with a woman of an ethnicity or religion other than your own about her experience of and views on spirituality. Please relate the interview in some way to at least one of the essential objectives. This part of the project should be at least 500 words.
3. A research project on a woman in history who is associated with spirituality. Friends, acquaintances and family members are not candidates; sorry. You may choose any of the women we discussed in class, or you might choose another woman altogether (examples: Kateri Tekakwitha, Starhawk, Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Joan of Arc, Palden Choedron, Clare of Assisi, and so on). Your presentation about this woman’s life and works may be creative as well as factual. You might, for instance, choose to create a video or blog. You might choose to write a one-act play about her based one her actions, words, or writings. The overall text of this part of the project should be equivalent to approximately 1200 words, and must be documented and formatted in MLA or APA format. Please use a minimum of four college-level sources, at least two of which should be obtained from databases or interlibrary loan of the CCV library; no more than two should be an Internet website. Internet websites will be evaluated on credibility; I recommend not using .com websites. .Edu websites are sounder choices.
