Explore three ideas of Formalism in your essay.
First define Formalism. Be sure to discuss Hollywood versus Independent Films and the manipulation of time in film through the use of Fabula and Suyzhet.
Remember that Formalism is the analysis of the elements of the film i.e. editing, shot choices, lighting, score, sound effects, special FX, etc., and how the synthesis of those elements effect the audience.
Second define the requirements of a Film Noir then choose one of the following films and prove it is a Film Noir.

Comment on the elements of the film in particular scenes, and the effect those elements had on you as an audience member as you experienced their synthesis.
Third describe the Femme Fatale of the movie. What makes her a Femme Fatale? What is her function within the film? How does she facilitate the plot moving forward?
