Functions of status and role play in social interactions

What functions do status, role, primary groups, and secondary groups play in social interactions between different racial and ethnic groups. List one example of each.

Status: Status is usually based on wealth, position or prestige. In most cases status is respected regardless of race or ethnicity. For example a baseball manager is the boss of the team and makes decisions accordingly regardless of whether he is black, white or hispanic.

Role: Role is closely related to status but a person can be in a role without having earned that right while status is usually something that is achieved through experience. Someone’s role isn’t always necessarily respected. For example there tends to be much distrust and animosity toward police officers demonstrated by especially the black but also the hispanic community. This tends to be true whether the officer is white, black or hispanic. Therefore it is the role not the ethnicity that is the issue.
