Week 3 (30 pts)

A proposal outlining the Project should be submitted to the professor

This week you will write and submit a proposal for your course project. Your proposal should be 1-2 pages in length and meet APA formatting and citation requirements.

Your proposal should include the following items:

  1. Selected Topic
    1. Description of Topic
    2. Body systems addressed by this topic
  2. Resource Assessment
    1. Provide a summary of two academic resources you will use to research your topic, These can be books, articles in scientific journals, websites
    2. Explain any additional resources you will use to support your research, for example you may work in a related field and use your expertise or the expertise of a colleague or friend.
  3. Retrospective Analysis
    1. Explain the significance of this topic to health sciences in the future- impact on careers in the field, new technologies, new job opportunities related to this topic.

Week 5 (50 pts + 20 pts)

A rough draft of your PowerPoint presentation outlining your major findings is submitted to your classmates in a discussion forum for Peer Review.

Grades this week will include 50 points for the draft presentation and 20 points for participation in the Peer Review

This week you will prepare a rough draft of your Power Point Presentation. You will submit your rough draft for peer review to the discussion forum. Throughout the week, you will receive feedback on the content and quality of your presentation in the discussions. Use the feedback you receive from classmates throughout the week to further refine your rough draft before submitting it for grading at the end of the week. You will also submit the rough draft for a grade and feedback from the professor.

Your Power Point Presentation should include the following items:

  1. Title Page (5 pts)
    1. Unique Title for the Presentation
    2. Your name
  2. Content (8-10 slides of content) (35 pts)
    1. The bodily system chosen for the project
    2. A brief introduction of the bodily system for audience understanding
    3. The features and responsibilities of the system
    4. Additional findings or outcomes of the system
    5. A tentative conclusion, summary of the presentation
  3. References (10 pts)
    1. List of sources used to create the content of the presentation
    2. Format research sources in APA formatting
    3. Evaluate the course project of other classmates using the week 5 PowerPoint Presentation Rough Draft grading rubric (see below) for your peer review. Provide thorough feedback in your peer review. Be sure to mention 2-3 strengths of the PowerPoint as well as 2-3 areas where the team can improve to make their Project stronger, clearer, and more educationally valuable.

      Guidelines:

      1. Submit your Power Point Presentation to the Discussions by Wednesday at the latest
      2. Review the Power Point Presentations submitted by the other classmates in the course (at minimum each individual should evaluate 2 Power Point Presentations using the Peer Review Evaluation form provided in the discussion thread- each evaluation will be worth 10 points).

      Offer your evaluation as a response in the discussions following the Evaluation Criteria below.

Week 7 (30 pts)

Final Version PowerPoint presentation, based on the feedback from your classmates in Week 4, outlining your major findings is due by end of Week 7. This version of the PowerPoint should contain narration.

Incorporating the feedback provided by your peers and the professor in Week 5, students should finalize the presentation and add a narration to the presentation. Detailed support for creating a narrated PowerPoint are provided in the Student Resource Center – located in the Course Resources Module of the course. This final version of the presentation should be submitted to the professor for grading by the end of week 7.
