It has been said that 10 percent of managers’ time should be spent on preparing themselves for the next higher level job, 80 percent of their time doing their current job, and 10 percent of their time helping those individuals who are at the level below them to prepare for advancement to the next level (their current) job. Do you think this is true for a General Manager? How would you modify the equation in your own situation?
