Write a six page research based paper that argues for one side of an important, currently controversial subject. Arrange the paper in the following way: The first page (about) should introduce the subject and explain why the subject is controversial and what is at stake in the outcome of the debate. In the second page, outline the two (or more) sides to the issue; summarize the major arguments on both sides. Use the rest of the paper to logically argue with substantial evidence for the side you believe is correct, this includes anticipating and countering major arguments from the opposing side. These sections of the paper should smoothly transition one into another. They should not be numbered or awkwardly be sown together with clunky phrases like, “I shall now explain both sides of this issue.” Make the whole seem organic, as if the organization is not assigned. Use MLA citation, which means in text citation and a works cited page. Works cited pages should be alphabetical by author, not numbered.
