Healthy diet

Healthy diet
1. Each student will record all food and liquid consumption for 3 days (72 hours). Details of everything consumed (food & liquid) are needed. For example: 1
whole wheat pita, ¾ cup lettuce, 1 tablespoon
mayo, 3 oz. sliced turkey, ½ oz. mild cheddar cheese, ¼ small tomato, ¼ small pickle, and 1 16 oz can of diet coke.

2. After the student has recorded all of their food and liquid consumption for 3 days, they will upload the information into a nutritional tracking site or an
android/iphone application. Examples may include and are not limited to: myplate.gov, livestrong.com, nutrient tracker, or myfitnesspal. Ensure that you will be able
to download a nutritional report that has (a) food log and (b) percent consumption of carbohydrates, protein, and fat. The report will need to be added to the paper as
a separate attachment.

3. Determine if your consumption of protein, carbohydrate, and fat are within recommended guidelines for the National Academy of Sciences (NAS). Please see the NAS
Guidelines attachment and utilize page 6.

4. Compare your results to the guidelines and describe what adjustment should be made to improve body composition.
5. Submit a 500 word written analysis of what you learned. The write-up needs to have a title & works cited page, and at least 1 paragraph about the 3 day log
experience (Personal Consumption Analysis), 1 paragraph comparing your results to the NAS Guidelines, and 1 paragraph about what changes (if any) you are going to make
to your diet/exercise (Application to Body Composition). The paper will need to follow MLA or APA formatting guidelines.
