Heredity and the Environment
Nature vs. nurture, also described as heredity vs. environment, is an issue of ongoing debate in the social sciences. In fact, the question of whether our behaviors, talents, tastes, successes and weaknesses result from our genetic makeup or our upbringing and circumstances has been raging for centuries. There are compelling arguments that both factors contribute to development. Make the case in favor of nature being the primary driving force in an individual’s development, or make a case in favor of nurture as the primary force.
