Photography

Photography is among the modern art methods around the world. It is applied in a diversified manner to represents many things including the physical, psychological and emotional themes. Photography is applied in almost every media representation in the modern age like in newspapers, magazines and commercials. However, not all photographs qualify as artistic presentations.

Technology has been the backbone towards the improvement of photography. It is through technology that people have been able to develop powerful cameras and editing techniques and gadgets that help shape photographs and videos towards the desired idea they mean to imply. In this age, it is easier more than ever to take a photograph or make a video, ranging from children to the old. However, not everyone can make a photograph look like an art. For photographs to be considered art, they have to have artistic characteristics that include a purpose, intention or a story they represent.

In the documentary (Brief Encounters) it is obvious that the photographer took a long time directing the photograph and making sure everything is in the right place and position. The preparedness was to ensure that every photo gave its proper meaning and have the dramatic impact he intends it has on its viewers. He creates the artistic form of the picture in his head and presents it to people to see what he wants to communicate. For a photographer to maintain their aesthetic characteristic, a difference has to get noted in their work, which entails details about the posture, appearance, background and feelings, all notable by analyzing the picture. Therefore, a photographer has to keep taking photos of the same item or person until they get a picture that represents the kind of message or atmosphere they wish to show through an image.

A picture reflects the mind of the photographer, showing their thoughts, feelings and view towards something, revealing the whole idea of art, which is an expression. From a single picture, a person could tell a lot about the photographer, including the attitude and mood they might have had when taking the photo. For instance, a picture filled with a lot of crimson red and black colors, accompanied by people in pain and anger could arouse a sad mood, probably that of war and bloodshed. The photographer must be in a terrible and empathetic mood to represent such a photo. As it is stated in the reading (Photography by Wilson), the whole reason behind photographs is to capture great moments, such as how someone looks at a certain time or how the way they are acting is telling a story about them. Thus, photography is objective.

To sum up, I believe that photography is one of the most impressive art forms as it represents a lot of details in just one frame. Photography promises to emerge as one of the greatest art forms in history.
