Why do we need organizational model in NM? How would you describe manager, agent and managed object in the organizational model?

Answer:

· We need the organizational model to understand the components of a network management system, their functions, and their infrastructure and their relationships which are provided by the organizational mode. The model also defines the terms object, agent, and manager

1. The Manager Sends requests to the agents, Monitors alarms generated by the agents, Houses applications and finally provides user interface that help the network administrator to manage the network.

2. The Agent resides in the managed object, it gathers information from objects, Configures its parameters and Responds to managers’ requests. It also Generates alarms and sends them to mangers

3. The Managed object represent the Network element that is managed, it also houses management agent.

How would you describe Client/Server Model? Also explain client and server roles to ensure network operation.

Answer

· The client server model has two processes the client and the server where the client process requests a service and the server process provides the required service.

· The client initiates a request to the server and waits for the results.

· The server executes the process to provide the requested service and sends the results to the client.
