Industrialization placed increased restrictions on workers/ History
Francis Bacon argued that machines would liberate mankind and allow people to truly enjoy their natural state of freedom. The Factory Rules of Berlin would suggest that industrialization placed increased restrictions on workers. To your mind, was industrialization liberating or restricting? Building off of this idea, do you think that modern technology (computers, cell phones, cars, tvs) has given people greater freedom or has it proved to be confining? Who do you think benefited most from industrialization? Who was affected most negatively?
