• Use APA format with inline citations for references. Use authoritative sources. For each part, you should have a minimum of 3 academic/research sources for each part of the assignment.

Part 1
Part 1 takes an industry perspective to the areas of study we will cover in the course. Consider the following study areas for this course.
1. Data management, data mining, and data warehousing
2. Operational systems, supply-chain management and CRM systems
3. Software development and human computer interaction
4. Information management and information security and assurance
5. Web systems and services, networks, and distributed systems
6. Decision-support systems, OLAP, and MIS/EIS systems
7. Knowledge Management and Artificial Intelligence systems
8. Distributed information management, collaboration systems, virtual organization systems
9. Healthcare informatics, bioinformatics, and emerging application areas
Write a short paper on three of the nine areas listed (your choice). Provide a brief definition of the area as you find in your research, thenidentify the common management, governance, strategic and planning elements for it. Your paper should be based on your sources, not on your opinion. This is one paper discussing the three areas, not three separate papers (I can hear the sigh of relief.)
Total paper length expected is around 3-4 pages. You will need to find outside sources in addition to the text. I recommend keeping these sources and expanding upon them as we study these topic areas in more depth further on in the course.

Part 2
Write a series of short papers answering each of the following questions. Maximum is 1 page per question for a total maximum of 4 pages for this part of the assignment.
1. Compare and contrast the management organization of an IT department in a large organization and a smaller organization. Be sure to use authoritative sources to determine how organizations organize their IT groups. You may wish to specifically look at the case of for-profit or not-for-profit organizations.
2. What is the relationship between IT management and IT governance?
3. What does a Chief Information Officer do?
4. Five aspects of management can be planning, leading, coordinating, controlling and organizing. Discuss these aspects in the context of information management.
You should make both parts of this assignment a single document, discussing the three study areas you chose and then responding to the four questions.
