Lab Assignment
Tasks:
1) Create a 3D model of the parts in any CAD software as per the dimensions provided.
2) Generate 2D drawings of the parts to be fabricated in the machine shop.
3) Provide appropriate tolerances in your drawings considering the hole and the plug should have a
transition fit (or snug fit).
4) Document all the steps that you need to manufacture the part in the machine shop such as:
 Take snapshots of the parts and processes that you will be using starting from procuring the raw material.
 Document the procedures that you need to follow while operating the machines.
 Measure dimensions of the parts to ensure quality control at all intermediate steps. This is to
ensure that the final machined part matches the dimensional tolerances that you provide in your
drawing.
5) Measure the dimensions of the final machined parts and discuss which step(s) is(are) critical in
ensuring the quality control. State whether your final machined part is as per your drawing.
6) Submit a final report summarizing all the tasks in a hard copy report no manimum pages.
