Lab Report – Stress Analysis /Engineering – Mechanical Engineering
· Abstract:
The abstract of this experiment is to introduce photoelasticity and it application to stress. In addition, the abstract of this experiment is to introduce Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and its application. In addition, the goal of this experiment is to understand force flow and P/A ,Mc/I, etc. apply and preform and compare methods of determining stress.

Introduction:
On this experiment we’re trying to find the Kt by using different methods. First, by calculating the Kt from our data. Second, by using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and finally, from the chart.
Methods:
1. Measure the specimen geometry with clipper and mark a point of nominal stress.
2. Turn on the polar scope and load the cell and adjust it to 30% and zero the load cell.
3. Attach specimen to polariscope of specimen is parallel with plane and lens.
4. Make sure that the polariscope in the “M” position.
5. Add a load but make sure to not break it.
6. Holding fringe compensator’s longitudinal axis to parallel to the rou.
7. Zero order fringe until the dial reaches 240 and reduce it and repeat it 10 times.
8. Record the dial and repeat step 10 on the marked nominal stress point.
9. Unload specimen and remove from the polarscope.

From our results the highest from our reading. Then from the chart and the lowest from FEA. However, they we’re very precise and close from each other.
Conclusion:
The conclusion of the experiment is to introduce photoelasticity and it application to stress. In addition, the abstract of this experiment is to introduce Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and its application. In addition, the goal of this experiment is to understand force flow and P/A, Mc/I, etc. apply and preform and compare methods of determining stress. The error rate is low and the methods were very clear. We can easily find the photoelasticity and it application to stress by using this experiment.
