You are the general manager of the foodservice portion of an exclusive country club about to host a large, prestigious, four-day golf tournament. The hours will be long, and the work will be demanding—not only for yourself, but for your staff as well. This year, in addition to the guests of the event, there will be the added pressure of national media attention. A golfing legend will be attending the tournament to help raise money for the event. With this comes the additional work that comes with the media component. In order to make sure everyone is prepared, consider the following:

• What preliminary actions are necessary to motivate your staff prior to this large, demanding event?
• What steps will you take to ensure your staff stays motivated under extreme stressful times?
• How will you determine who is assigned to what task?
• What preparations do you need to make to ensure your team is ready?
• What do you say or do for your team to assure them they will be successful?
• How will you handle the wrap-up of the event?
