Literature Review

The assignment is a literature review in which you should analyse how the national environment shapes the efficiency of HR practices.
The topic is “Employer provided training and organisational performance”
The literature review should:
– Identify key theoretical concepts and relevant mechanisms
– Describe the relevant context in the UK and Japan
– Apply the theoretical context to both countries
– Critically discuss similarities and/or differences how training affect the out come (organisational performance) in both countries.
The context shapes the outcome of HR policies:
– Institutional differences (varieties of Capitalism theory)
– Behavioural differences (Human Capital Theory, Social Exchange Theory)
– Cultural differences (Hofstede’s theory)
In this work, I want to focus only 2 contexts and 2 thoeries. You can choose one of these following:
1) Institutional context with Varieties of Capitalism theory and Behavioural context with Human Capital Theory or Social Exchange Theory (choose only one).
2) Behavioural context with Human Capital Theory and Social Exchange Theory, plus Cultural context without theory (because my lecturer said that we already studied cultural theory, so not need to mention it again)
Information add:
-Context information you can find on OECD, World bank, Governmental bodies, empirical papers.
– You should explain the empirical findings (context information) using theoretical arguments
– After applied the theories in both countries, thus summaries Pro and Con of the theories in each countries
– Please use reliable resources
– I prefer this paper to be easy to understand, even though someone who doesn’t study in this course able to understand
