Literature review on English language teaching and learning styles

Order Description
Aims:

1. For students to develop the ability to read widely and critically in a specific area.
2. For students to develop the ability to analyse, synthesise and report upon a large amount of
information pertaining to the main trends in the literature.
3. For students to be better able to conduct research project work requiring literature reviews in the
future

Description:
Choose one of the following topics and then conduct a literature review on it.

1. Task-based learning and teaching in different contexts in the world.
2. Content and language integrated learning in different contexts in the world.
3. The role of the (language) teacher in different contexts in the world.
4. The role of the (language) learner in different contexts in the world.
Recommended format:
1. Introduction and definition of any terms
2.Review and synthesis of the literature you have found on your chosen topic. Rather than list pieces of
research individually try to group literature together that is talking about the same topic within the
broader topic you have chosen. Use headings to guide the reader through the different
parts of the review. Remember to include research which has arrived at different conclusions i.e. some
research states that TBLT has been widely adopted in Asia (list references of those who believe this)
while other literature is less conclusive (list the names and year of those who believe this). Look at ‘old’
research and contrast it with more recent research. Inclusion of research which is contradictory in its
findings as well as older and more recent research will give depth to the review and make it more
critical.
3.Conclusions.
4. References (APA).
