Low carb vs Low fat diet-Research paper|Psychology

Please see attached instructions and 5 sources that I have already submitted. Needs to be 8 pages APA format research paper.

Original submission was for the topic and references.  This is a scholarly 8 pg research paper with APA formatting.  Minimum of 6 sources of scholarly articles.  Here are 5 that I submitted.

Research Topic:What are the benefits and risks of the low carb ketogenic diet vs low fat diet?

I am interested in researching the pros and cons of the low carb ketogenic diet versus the low-fat diet.  I will research how the restrictions of carbohydrates versus fats affects overall health factors.  I have loved ones that swear by the low carbohydrate diet.  I disagree that the ketogenic diet is a well-balanced nutritional plan that will benefit one’s health.

Additional instructor’s comments about your submission

Hello student,
Interesting topic. I look forward to reading your paper.

My general notes are to:
1. Think about what your method section will look like before you delve into the readings too deep. What variables will be included. Will you be manipulating any of the variables? What will your hypothesis (es) look like? Think about your participants, etc. I other words, start to think about the process of conducting a study and what you will need to include in a proposal of that study.
2. The sources you chose are mostly appropriate for this research proposal. However, the last one is not. They MUST all be from peer-reviewed Psychology journals. More info on that in the Writing Resources tab. Newspapers and magazines and non-academic sources are not acceptable. A short hand is to look for articles in journals that have an abstract, lit review, method, results, and discussion sections, then make sure they are in the domain of Psychology.
3. Please take the time to review all of the materials in the Writing Resources section of Sakai. There are instructions, a rubric, and sample paper, which will be very helpful. I promise it will not be wasted time.

Research Proposal

Instructions: Please attach documents in Microsoft Word only (.doc or .docx). This is a PROPOSAL.Thus, in the AIMS and METHOD sections you will describe your PLANS for a unique study based on your topic. You are not to describe what other researchers did in the Method section. The Method section should include what you would propose to do if you were conducting your own study. You do not have to collect data, just show what you would do if you were going to. The Literature Review should cover what other researchers have done and the Method section should cover how you would conduct a study on this topic.

Please use proper APA format and refer to your APA Manual to make sure it is correct and for examples. This is a RESEARCH paper so your voice must be professional with a bit of a professional distance, which means that you should not insert yourself into your topic or provide personal anecdotes as you might with a paper for your literature class. If you need an example, please consult a peer-reviewed Psychology journal and use as a reference point for the type of language and content appropriate for this type of technical paper.

You MUST submit two drafts. One that has been run through Grammarly.com and a second final, polished, and clean draft.

BEGINNING TO WRITE

  1. Organize.

Now that you have read and summarized your articles, start to organize the information you have obtained from the readings. Do some articles provide redundant or similar information?  Do some articles provide different or conflicting information?  (If your topic is teen pregnancy and academic achievement, perhaps you will have found 2 articles that suggest that teen pregnancy often causes girls to not finish high school. Maybe 2 other articles suggest that socioeconomic status is an important factor in determining if girls who get pregnant in high school ever finish high school.  Perhaps 2 other articles suggest that family involvement/ help is the main factor that determines academic achievement.)

  1. Write an introduction.

The first 1-3 paragraphs of your paper should introduce your topic.  This part of the paper should make it clear why your topic is important.  Explain to your reader why they should want to read the rest of the paper!  Also, you want to briefly explain what you are going to be talking about in the rest of the paper.

(e.g., Teen pregnancy is an important social issue because….This paper will discuss the relations between teen pregnancy and academic achievement…..First, young girls’ ability to finish high school after becoming pregnant will be discussed. Second, the role of girls’ socioeconomic status in determining their ability to excel in school when deal with a pregnancy will be explored….Finally, research discussing the importance of girls’ families…..)

  1. Write the body of the paper.

This is where the actual literature review comes in.  You want to organize your summaries to provide a good review of what the literature you have read says about your topic.  Be careful not to plagiarize your articles as you summarize them! It is important that you do not just recount every bit of information in the original articles.  Instead, integrate the information you have obtained from the different references.  (If you are working on the teen pregnancy paper, you may want to write 1 page about girls’ finishing high school after a pregnancy, 1 page about girls SES, and 1 page about family involvement).

  1. Conclusion.

The last 1-2 paragraphs of your literature review should “wrap-up” what you have told your reader.  This is a good time to reflect on what the literature tells us, and what it does not tell us.  What are potential avenues for other research? What is the take-home message of your literature review?

AIMS and METHODS

  1. Read your literature review and think about how the research could be improved.

You will not be required to collect data or conduct the study, only to think about and propose what you would do if you were going to conduct research on your topic.

  1. Generate research questions related to your topic.

Operationalize and write out your research questions. Make sure that they are well aligned with your topic and that they are measurable.

  1. Write up the Aims of the Study section.

Make sure that the research questions and predictions are clear and logically follow from the literature review.

  1. Write up the Method Section of your proposed Study.

Describe the following, making sure to use proper APA Style:

  1. potential participants
  2. the measures and/or equipment you propose to use
  3. procedures for collecting your data
  4. Write up the References Section.

Make sure to use proper APA Style. Check to make sure that all of the citations have references and that all of the references have citations. You must have at least 6 references.

  1. Contents of final paper:

Your final paper must include the following:

  1. Title Page
  2. Abstract
  3. Lit Review
  4. Aims of the Study
  5. Method Section
  6.  Reference Page
  7. Formatting requirements
