Assume you have recently been promoted to manager at your firm. As you take on
this new role, you look at the next 30, 60, and 90 days to develop your plan for
success. Becoming management is a rewarding experience for many, but also
includes many challenges.
This is assignment will be worth 80 points. Take this into consideration as you
develop your answers, one sentence answers will not be sufficient for a passing
grade. Each answer will be graded based on the rubric below with a possible 10
points for each question. Therefore, you must answer 8 of the 10 questions. Your
answers can be written in MS Word, but must be copied and pasted into Canvas for
submission. Attached documents will not be accepted for this assignment.
Plagiarized or group work will result in a failing grade. Please make sure you label
your questions so I know which numbers you have completed.

Additionally, 2 points will be earned for grammar and spelling, points will be
deducted for writing that exceeds 2 spelling or grammatical errors per question.
1. As a new manager, describe how you will address your new role and
relationship shifts within the company.
2. You have been tasked with hiring multiple new employees. Present your
recruitment processes from recruitment strategies, what you are looking for
on a resume, to conducting an interview.
3. As a manager, describe how performance appraisals will affect efficiency and
productivity within your working environment. Address how you will
conduct performance appraisals, how often you will conduct them, and what
method you will use.
4. Will you include your employees in the budgeting process? If so, how?
Include a discussion of the budgeting method you find most appropriate in
your field.
5. There is a destructive interpersonal conflict happening in your department.
As the department manager, how would you handle this situation? Discuss
types of conflict, sources of conflict, what happens when conflict goes
unresolved, and how to resolve conflict.
6. Your company recently upgraded its technology systems, everyone seems
receptive to the new advancements. However, the learning curve has been
very steep for one employee. He has been frustrated with the whole process
and seems to no longer be “the right fit” for the company. He is a good
person, loyal employee, and well-liked by his peers. How would you go about
firing this person?
7. Explain why strategic planning and the steps of the strategic planning
process are beneficial to a manager and his/her organization.
8. Describe how each organizational structure could be beneficial and
disadvantageous in your field. And, include which organizational structure
best suits your career goals, personality, and work style.
9. Describe what the company culture would be like under your management in
your chosen field. How would you motivate your employees to be productive,
ethical, and high performing employees? Discuss your plan to reduce
turnover and improve morale.
10. Your company has a diverse workforce, this includes many culturally diverse
individuals, varying levels of education, and millennials moving into
management, but very few female employees. List your strategies for
managing diversity within the workplace.Managment
