Meals on Wheels

Please ensure that you are paying careful attention when uploading your document for submission (and, please upload a Word or PDF and do not copy/paste into the Comments section).

Directions
Part 1: Read the empirical article describing a process evaluation conducted on the program Meals on Wheels (located in the “Supplementary Materials” folder).

a.) In 1-2 paragraphs, summarize the article in your own words (do not rewrite the abstract – this doesn’t count ;)) in APA format (i.e., use the appropriate font, size, margins, in-text citations, a running head, and academic writing including no contractions, etc.; further, no direct quotes are permitted. You do not need to include a title page or running head.)

b.) In 1-2 paragraphs, describe an element from this paper that you found particularly interesting. Accordingly, provide a more thorough description of this element, and in doing so, elaborate on what, specifically, interested you about this section. This could be anything from the article – the point is to gain additional practice with academic writing and clearly articulating a more narrow description of something and explaining what was noteworthy about it.

Part 2: Use the video “Understanding Program Outcomes: How to Set Up and Measure the Things that Matter” as a guide for designing a very basic (and hypothetical) outcome evaluation. You will select a topic from the list provided below to answer the questions (also listed below).

Accordingly, rather than focusing on a program for teaching young parents good parenting skills, you will focus on the outcomes of a hypothetical prevention/intervention program related to the topic you choose.
a.) What are some ways that program success could be defined?
b.) List 2 outcomes that you could look for to demonstrate that the program is effective.
c.) Identify 2 indicators that you could use to measure program success/effectiveness for each outcome (be sure to specify which indicators “belong” to which outcomes; similarly, this means that you will have a total of 4 indicators).
(Remember to use the video to help guide you about what is considered an outcome and what is an indicator.)
List of topics:
1. Program to help at risk youth from joining gangs or any affiliation with them
2. Program for underprivileged children to gain a better education
3. Program for runaway youth
4. Bullying prevention program
5. Single mothers program
6. Suicide prevention program/positive outlook on life program
