MEDIA ANALYSIS ASSIGNMENT

Instead of doing the Media Analysis assignment in class, you are going to be watching the video I’ve assigned out of class. Here’s what you need to do:

Open a web browser (I used Google Chrome) and insert the following address:
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=4&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiW1Kmy2JvPAhVIxCYKHRgaCqEQtwIILzAD&url=https%3A%2F%2Fvimeo.com%2F122468054&usg=AFQjCNFyV-3ktVKPqtqxkkYNl3PokBttVw&bvm=bv.133178914,d.eWE

You should watch that video, called People Like Us: Social Class in America. It’s an hour and 17 minutes long. Your media analysis is on this video, so please don’t analyze anything else!

Watch the video and then look at it through the lens of Interpersonal communication. Your analysis should include the following:

Section I: Synopsis of the media
Summarize the main points/themes/arguments of the video. Paraphrase this information to make it your own work! This section of the paper should be a minimum of 1 page, double-spaced.

Section II: Application of course concepts

Choose a minimum of ten course ideas/concepts and clearly illustrate how you feel they relate to the media. The concepts can be taken from any chapter in your textbook. This section should be a minimum of two pages, double-spaced. Feel free to write as much as you like! Since this is the most important part of your assignment, make sure to use those terms and give an accompanying example. You’ve been doing this since the first week of class, so you know how to do this by now! This assignment is a bit different from other homework assignments since I’m asking for 10 terms total, so make sure you have all ten in there.
