MOdern day Hero

  Reflecting on the requirements of an ancient or medieval hero, you are to make a case for a modern-day hero.

PRESENTATION:

• Set out at least FIVE requirements of a modern hero, who reflects the ideals of modern-day culture– be specific.  (Consider the pentangle of Sir Gawain’s shield, representing five social graces:  generosity, brotherly love, purity of mind, courtesy, compassion).  How similar/ different are the requirements of today’s hero?
• Choose a modern person (who has been alive during your lifetime!) who reflects these ideals (in literature, film, or the real world).
• Your presentation should make a claim that your chosen person embodies these modern requirements.  Be sure to compare/ contrast the modern requirements with the ancient or medieval requirements.
• Be sure to offer sufficient support for your modern hero claim (mention at least THREE credible articles reflecting modern culture in your presentation).
• You will be graded on the strength of your argument, and whether you followed all directions.

• Poster or PowerPoint to include: 1. Modern-day shield reflecting five traits of a modern-day hero;  2.  Photograph of your modern-day hero.  (Your visual aid will be graded on creativity and attention to detail.)
