MOVE ANALYSIS PAPER

A well-written review will be at least 2 full pages double spaced, with a 12 point font.

Part 1 (1/2 page)

  • Who the actors are and the names of the characters they play.
  • When the events in the movie took place
  • The director and the year of release

Part 2 (1-2 pages)

(Application of chapter topics are expected here.)

The review can cover topics such as (but does not have to be limited to):

  • How the film portrays the bigger issues and messages it is communicating,
  • What you noticed about dialogue, direction, camera angles, setting, particular scenes, or the characters that helped communicate the messages of the film.
  • What scenes or situations helped the film make its points
  • What was the message of the film-good/evil, historical, nature of relationships, race, gender, success, religion-don’t forget to talk about the big picture!

Avoid describing every detail. Don’t write “then this happened, then that happened”. This assignment is a critical, higher order thinking review. You may describe an event in the plot but it must relates to the overall goal of the movie’s message.

Part 3 (1-2 pages)

(Application of chapter topics are expected here.) Put yourself into this review now and personalize your learning.

  • What issues were you thinking about when the movie was over, especially but not limited to how they relate to your own experiences?
  • Convince the reader/your audience if you think it is a movie worth seeing-or not.
  • What spoke to you in this film? Why did you choose it?

Cite passages/concepts from the textbook to support your arguments.

All work should be your own. If you examine peer-reviewed journals that address your given film, cite them as appropriate.
