Narrative Essay Assignment-What Makes a Great Nurse
This assignment has been modified from the past Block 2 writing assignment. It is our hope that you may regard this as a favorite writing assignment in nursing school.
Throughout history, nursing has required certain virtues, values, knowledge and skills. These requirements are still necessary and relevant among individuals who choose to become nurses. The purpose of this assignment is for student nurses to explore the traits and attributes that our profession define as those of a “great” nurse. This assignment requires personal reflection, which includes a description of why you chose to become a nurse.
Reference literature to discover what qualities define a great nurse (as defined by the nursing profession and the communities we serve), and you may research general virtues that define a great person.
Explore personal qualities that contribute to the development of your “personal brand” of nursing.
